Pregnant in Pyramids & Smog: Baby Moon to Tepoztlan, Mexico

At five months pregnant, people said, you’re crazy to go to Mexico! You’ll get Zika virus! The third world for a baby moon? Why?

Always a mama, and a part-time Marriage and Family Therapist. The rest of my life force goes into surfing, writing, cooking complicated healthy food, singing, or waterfall hunting. Well.. that's not all true. I think read more than anything. I devour books. I cry with them, dream about them, let them soak them into me. When I don't have a book I'm unmoored, wandering around and finally calling my friends, playing guitar, weeding my garden. Or finishing The Boat Cleaner's Daughter, my upcoming memoir.

I've discovered a new love for learning this year, so I try to keep up with the hotties in my new Bachata dance class, learn Japanese, and am always listening to podcasts to learn more about energy, magic and love. And how to be more brave and cool and deep. That kind of stuff. Sometimes it sucks to keep being gently guided to put my arms around my wounds but mostly it's inspiring and feels right. Even melts some of the darkness in the end.
